AOC Sunday Report - Sunday next before Advent

Happy Sunday next before Advent!

The AOC Sunday Report can be downloaded RIGHT HERE!

We have excellent sermons today from Bishops Roy, Jack and Dennis, as well as Rev Bryan. Each one is quite different and I think that you will enjoy each of them equally.  Bishop Jack brings the propers together today.  His sermon can be viewed on video HERE -> https://youtu.be/OuF2cE_HrE8

The Collect, Epistle and Gospel, today’s propers are all tied together.  As is usual, they call for action not just thoughts.  In fact, the collect is among the most direct, asking God to stir our hearts that we might ACT in a manner which will result in good things! The collect is asking for God to inspire us to ACT to produce those good works that will please Him. It is asking for God to assist us in our actions here on Earth to produce good fruits. And through those good fruits, God will reward us with gifts that are better than we could possibly imagine.   I hope you find it useful.

There are always a lot of people who need your prayer. Today is not the exception.  Please start with Shamu, Mr. Kim, Tricia and Laurie, work out from there.    Also, if you have someone on the prayer list and their needs have changed, please let us know.  We’d like to update our prayers to reflect the need and most important to give thanks!  Some of these are quite old.

This is the Sunday next before Advent, Advent is the season in which we prepare for the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As we go through these next few weeks, I ask you reflect on one thing. Many people have given their lives for their family, their friends, their country. But no one has ever come into this world knowing exactly how they would leave. Jesus, the Christ of God, came into this world, knowing He would leave through crucifixion and precisely how much that would hurt. He knew that He would have to go down into hell and battle with the devil.  Yet he came anyway. Think about that.

We need direction this life, we need a compass which always points to the True North. We get that from God in the form of the Holy Ghost.

As we come off this Thanksgiving weekend, we should recognize we have a lot to be thankful for and a lot to look forward to. I hope that you have an epic week ahead.

Godspeed,

Hap
