Betty Hoffman – A Day of Remembrance

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 18 October 2021

We remember this day our late National Secretary, Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Hoffman who, undauntedly, braved the ocean currents of the Coral Sea of the Solomons, the rugged mountain slopes of Luzon, and the dangers of the hostile politicians of both India and Pakistan in her travels with the bishops of the Church to further the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Betty went to be with the Lord on 6 May 2017. Betty would have been 89 years of age had she lived until today.

Betty was a remarkably committed Christian who gave her life to preserving the Reformation doctrine and worship of the Anglican Orthodox Communion – first under Bishop James Parker Dees, and finally under Bishop Jerry Ogles. She maintained meticulous records and possessed a photographic memory to back those records up. She never failed to exercise a genuine sense of politeness and care in dealing with all who contacted our Church. With the passing of Bishop Dees on Christmas Day 1990, Betty became the longest serving member of the Anglican Orthodox Communion Worldwide.

Betty was fervent in prayer, untiring in labor, and unrelenting in her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Betty was not only a remarkably professional National Secretary, but the closest personal friend I could rely upon in my ministry. I loved Betty as a sister in Christ and will never have a more loyal friend and servant of God to call upon.

May Betty rest in peace until that glorious resurrection promised to such as live in the faith of the blessed of the Lord.

In the Name of Christ,

Jerry L. Ogles, Presiding Bishop
Anglican Orthodox Communion Worldwide
